Bless This Mess
Shows - installations
For her first group piece, Katerina Andreou – who is associate artist with the ccncn – finds her impetus in the confusion and constant noise of the world. From this mental and emotional state emerge play, absurdity, fiction and poetry.
The state of confusion in which we find ourselves in a society where everything goes too fast and too badly, is turned into a driving force by Katerina Andreou. Driven by an urgent need to act and move, the choreographer sketches out a territory in which we can feel more solid, have more integrity: this is what she is exploring with three other dancers in this piece. BLESS THIS MESS draws its inspiration from punk, not as an aesthetic movement but as a practice, reinterpreted in the light of this intuition: a punk gesture is a frank, direct and necessary one for those who act, with an element of playfulness and absurdity. It emerges from disorder, embracing it as you would embrace reality, to confront the need for fiction. The sound installation is the tuning fork that attunes the bodies of the four performers, synchronized in the way they understand and respond to what they hear. The bodies thus explore a state of urgency, carried by a particular energy, a tonicity that runs through them independently of movement. Against confusion, in close contact.
